Nature’s ever-changing beauty is at the heart of my ceramic work. Inspired by the shifting seasons, the changes of colour palette, flowers and fauna. I create my artworks and sculpture at my home studio in Mountfield and my teaching space in Staplecross.
My love of clay and it’s squishy qualities started on the British shoreline, on holiday as a child l loved to sink my feet into the soft squelchy mud.
I have always been passionate about the medium of clay and its versatility. I love the chemistry behind the material, the alchemy and changes that happen when you put a piece of delicate formed ‘mud’ in the kiln and an artwork is produced which has been transformed into a beautiful object, which will be around forever, with colours that will never fade.
My art practice still has this element of play in the items i create, but the beautiful setting of my garden ceramic studio surrounded by woodland means that i am inspired daily. Specialising in ceramic flowers, particularly poppies, i capture the delicate yet resilient essence of flowers in clay, preserving fleeting moments of colour and life in a permanent sculptural form. Each piece is handcrafted, ensuring that no two flowers are ever identical, just as in nature.
My flowers and homewares can be purchased through my online shop, my cabin shop/studio at Beside the beaten Tracks, Staplecross TN325QR or visit me at some of the events i will be at in 2025 http://www.livingcrafts.co.uk (8-11th May) http://www.thespiritoftenterden.co.uk (4-6th July) Events at Scotney Castle (Autumn Fair 13/14th Sept) My website is: http://www.parkceramicsandgifts.co.uk
