I have been a member of the Kent Potters Association since 1980 and in the past Chairman, Secretary, Newsletter editor and the leader of the co-operative of the KPA Gallery in Maidstone in Kent.
As a child my hands were always busy making things but it was not until my children were older that I started pottery classes at the Haimo Art Centre in Eltham.
I became a mature student at Dartford College of Education majoring in Ceramics with honours and in Art and Craft and a year later a B’ed. This led to 20 years of secondary school teaching.
My work is hand built using a variety of techniques and different incorporated materials. I specialise in Raku firings experimenting with low fired glazes creating an impressive palette of colours specialising in individual pieces often described as waggish, quirky and edgy.
