Peter Curtis
Peter has been a potter for many years, he began making pottery in Dawlish, Devon in 1978. Initially self taught, he was later mentored by Sid Tustin of Winchcombe Pottery. Sid holidayed in Dawlish each year during which he would spend most of the time in Peter’s studio making pots, teaching Peter and generously sharing his extensive knowledge.
In the 1990’s Peter founded Millbrook Pottery which grew into a flourishing business supplying pottery to approximately 350 shops worldwide. As a result he had to recruit a team of potters in order to keep up with demand. Peter’s pottery has been sold at Bonhams contemporary ceramics auctions.
Now “retired” he creates a variety of stoneware pottery from his home studio which he sells at craft fairs. He makes a large selection of decorative domestic ware most of which are hand thrown, such as, bowls, vases, cheese platters, his range also includes a variety of garden sculptures. Many of his totem poles have found new homes in the UK and as far away as USA and Australia.
His pottery designs are predominantly influenced by his previous career as a dancer as well as his love for plants, flowers, shape and form.
