Painter and sculptor, ceramik, Aysegul Coles, was born in Merzifon, Turkey in 1965 and gained a BA in Sculpture, and an MA in History of Art & Sculpture at the Mimar Sinan Academy of Fine Art.  

Since 2000, Aysegul has lived in England in the coastal town of Whitstable where the extraordinary quality of the area’s northern light provides ongoing inspiration. Aysegul works in a variety of media including stone, clay and wood from her charming sea-facing studio.  

Aysegul says: “My environment; the sea and nearby fields and woodland are a constant source of wonder for me. My paintings use minimal shape and form allowing their bold colours to provide dynamism, energy and a necessary space to communicate my perception and appreciation of the natural world.”
