Once upon a time I was a theatre designer, prop-maker, house builder/renovator and teacher. I moved to Hastings in 2013 and set about concentrating on ceramics. As well as throwing (lots of practice during lockdown), I hand build and cast from my own moulds.

I like colour and texture and use coloured slips and glazes to build up layers with brushes, stencils, splattering and resist. I enjoy the arbitrary & haphazard nature of the results which are as exciting as when opening the kiln.

After a trip to South Korea with London Potters, I started making large jars and sculptures using Hangul symbols.

I welcome commissions for the satisfaction of making something for a specific person or place. Previously I have made sleeping mermaids to lie inside a glass topped boat/coffee table, a garden totem for a jazz loving globe trotter and other celebration and commemorative ceramics.
